The Meating Place Story
Fast forward from July 10, 2023…the night that the Broad Street Market brick building was destroyed by fire and countless people’s lives were upended. An unimaginable catastrophe, but it wasn’t enough to break their collective spirit. Instead, the generosity of individuals, the camaraderie of community and the leadership of the Broad Street Market executive staff, came together to initiate a proactive plan to keep the oldest continuously operating Farmers Market in the country alive and kickin’!
Tragically lost in the fire were TWO longstanding meat vendors Hummer Meats and Lebanon Valley Meats. Sadly, neither were interested in opening a stand in the proposed Tent Building. This left a big void in the active list of product offerings at the market.
Enter Two Brothers BBQ, a beloved vendor of over a decade and seller of “Simply the Best” BBQ Chicken, Beef and Pork for miles and miles! The solution was obvious. So, directly across from Two Brothers BBQ, The Meating Place was established and opened In June 2024.
